ASTRONOMY AND PARTICLE PHYSICS FOR THE PUBLIC

THE PPARC SUMMER INSTITUTE

The Summer Institute for Physics Teachers will be held in Bristol from June 30th- July 4th 2003, and in Manchester from July 7th-11th 2003.

Particle Physics is exciting and popular with pupils, but it is an ever-changing field and many teachers feel the need for top-up training, to catch up with developments (both in the syllabus and in the material itself) that have arisen since they last learnt the subject.

This 4 day course uses lectures and workshops to cover Particle Physics at AS/A2 level, dealing not only with the material, but how it can be taught to pupils, and the educational software and other resources available. (It is suitable for all the new syllabuses.) Previous participants say it enabled them to teach the subject with confidence and enthusiasm.

Thanks to the PPARC subsidy the cost, including 4 nights accommodation, meals and materials, is only £ 150 (or £ 100 non-resident) which makes it probably the best-value INSET you've ever been offered.

Participants should arrive on the afternoon/evening of the Monday (30th or 7th) and the course will finish by 4pm on Friday.
