ASTRONOMY AND PARTICLE PHYSICS FOR THE PUBLIC

ARRANGING TALKS FOR SCHOOL AUDIENCES

  • We can arrange (thanks to a grant from COPUS, the Institute of Physics, and PPARC) speakers for talking to the public about particle physics.

In the past branches of the Institute of Physics and local SATROs have used this scheme, but it's open to anyone and we welcome enquiries. If you can provide an audience, preferably of 100+ to make it worthwhile (which generally means a few schools getting together) and a hall, then we will provide a speaker, and pay their travelling expenses. We can also pay for hall hire, buses, and other similar (modest) items of expenditure.

Particle physicists are enthusiastic about their subject, and happy to share the excitement, and such talks generally go down well.
