Installing and configuring Configuration database - LIGHT VERSION.

Reference: http://www.slac.stanford.edu/BFROOT/dist/releases/nightly/HOWTO/HOWTO-Setting-Up-BetaMiniAnalysis-CDB

Attention !!! This procedure is not suitable for users that want to run Monte Carlo. I strongly recommend install the FULL version because it is complete and do not take much longer than this version. You also will have to spend a lot of time debugging site configuration problems.

Geting the Public Federation number

 ssh -l jamwer noric.slac.stanford.edu
 cd BbSoft/
 srtpath
enter release number (CR=14.5.2):

Select/enter BFARCH (CR=1):
1) Linux24RH72_i386_gcc2953                     [prod][active]
2) Linux24RH72_i386_gcc2953-Optimize-Profile    [prod]
3) Linux24RH72_i386_gcc2953-noOptimize-Debug    [prod]
> GetFDID jamwer
The five FDID numbers assigned to jamwer are 26680 - 26684.

Config Database Generation

 ssh -l bfactory bfb.tier2
 klog
 cd BbSoft

To clean the database, when there are data loaded:

gmake database.delete CONFIRM_DELETE=yes

Linux24RH73 is not supported. Please use Linux24RH72 machine to build [os-1]

I don't know why, but I lost the tokens, permissions, etc and I couldn't return to home directory with error "permission denied". Alessandra changed the NFS/AFS permissions (because she configured sun1 and bfb with different user numbers with same name) and the following errors started:

The problem seen to be related with configuration, one of arch_spec_FDDB.mk, arch_spec_FDDB.mk+ and .bbobjy. The file arch_spec_FDDB.mk+ is in /afs/hep.man.ac.uk/g/bfactory/etc/14.5.2/SoftRelTools. The .bbobjy is in bfb.tier2:/home/bfactory/BbSoft. To find the file arch_spec_FDDB.mk, I gave the command:

Release is a set of packages compatibles between each other. Every package is identified by a code in the format V00-nn-nn-nn-... To find out what packages are in the release, go to: cd BbSoft/workdir/PARENT. Each entry is a package with the correct version.

Releases and packages: http://www.slac.stanford.edu/BFROOT/www/doc/workbook/srt1/srt1.html#tags

A software release consists of a consistent set of packages together with the libraries and binaries created for various machine architectures. A package is a self contained piece of software intended to perform a well defined task If you want to know which tag is in a release for a specific package, you can type

srtlstag

Running at bfb.tier2:

bfactory@bfb>srtlstag 14.5.2 BdbConfig

 ERROR: release '14.5.2' doesn't seem to be in the database [s-6]

Running at SLAC:

[noric03] ~/BbSoft > srtlstag 14.5.2 BdbConfig
BdbConfig V00-11-01 14.5.2

I am not able to know what is the package to select the correct arch_spec_FDDB.mk to search for the origin of problems.

The file arch_spec_FDDB.mk+ is available in the following directory: /afs/hep.man.ac.uk/g/bfactory/etc/14.2.1/SoftRelTools/arch_spec_FDDB.mk+

It contains the definitions for Bdb:

bfactory@bfb>cat /afs/hep.man.ac.uk/g/bfactory/etc/14.2.1/SoftRelTools/arch_spec_FDDB.mk+

The problem maybe can be solve using KanUserAdmin (?)

Import DbConfig by Chris/RAL

To install I just followed the proceedure in the document as bfactory from
"/home/bfactory/CDB-Update", though with a slightly more decriptive .bboby
file because I wanted to be more speciific about where stuff goes.
bfactory@bfb>more .bbobjy

GLOBAL_DB_DIR = $(BFROOT)/Bdb/Production/global/export/
FDB_LOCAL_NAME = "master-core"

JNL_HOST     = sun1.hep.man.ac.uk
JNL_DIR      = /nfs/babar02/Production/databases/journals/conditions/physics
I'd copied the snapshot from slac to /nfs/babar01/snapshots/analysis with
bbftp -u brew -s -p 10 -e 'cd
/nfs/objyserv03/objy/databases/snapshots/master/betamini-subset/currentTar/;
get betamini-subset_cond.tar.gz' bbr-xfer06.slac.stanford.edu
and uptarred it in that folder Then it was just a case on doing the gmake database.load and gmake database.import steps:
bfactory@bfb>setboot

To upgrade it should just be a case of downloading and unpacking the new snapshot, logging in as bfactory then
cd /home/bfactory/CDB-Update
srtpath 14.5.2 Linux24RH72_i386_gcc2953
setboot
gmake database.load SNAPSHOT_DIR= -force
