My Apartment

This is my apartment! Its in an apartment block in Palo Alto. There are 10 of us from SLAC in the building (eight 1st years and two 2nd years), so there are always people to do things with. It stops living alone feeling lonely.

My apartment was very cream when I first arrived, so I've added lots of colour. To keep it looking simple I kept to strict colour schemes: dark 'blood' red in the bedroom and living area, navy blue in the kitchen, black on my desk and bright red in the bathroom. The chairs, tables, cabinets and lamps were here already but I've added everything else.

I've split the photos into 2 pages. Let me show you around...

My Apartment.

This is the view across my apartment. My bed is on the left and my sofa on the right. I'm actually stood in the kitchen, looking over the counter.

Looking out onto my balcony.

Sitting on my bed, this is the view out onto my balcony. You can see my big, red yoga ball! Everyone thought I was a bit mental when I bought it, but now they can't help but bounce about on it whenever they come over!

My sofa.

This is my sofa and coffee table.

My kitchen.

This is the view over to my kitchen. You can see how the counter divides the space while keeping it all open. On the far right of the photo you can see the front door to my apartment.

Making pancake brunch.

As a treat on Sundays I often have a real Californian pancake brunch. I make my own pancakes using pancake mix. I have them with lots of syrup and fruit because thats how they usually serve them round here! Today I'm using pears. I also add a spoonful of ice cream because it's Sunday and its my treat! So here's my counter while I'm making them. Notice my funky, red fruit bowl and my beautiful plant! (Its a giant succulent).

My bed.

My bed.

Looking across toward the kitchen.

And this is the view from my bed, looking across my apartment. On the right you can see the end of my kitchen counter. You can also see the back of my TV. I can turn it round to watch it from any bit of my apartment.

My TV..

This is what you see when you're sat on my sofa. You can see my flat screen TV, my DVR box, my DVD player ($24!) and my keyboard. In the background is my bed.

My kitchen.

This is looking into my kitchen. Notice the postcards of Manchester on the fridge!

My pancake brunch.

YUMMY! This will keep me going all day. In fact I'll hardly need more than a snack at dinner time.
