Lassen Volcanic National Park - Saturday 29th July

I've divided the pictures from Lassen National Park into 3 sections:

The first photos show our camp. Its over 5,650ft up! Me, Jenny, Tim and Sudan camped here for the weekend. We're in a camp site but all the individual camps are spread out between the trees. You have to camp next to a 'Bear Box' which is a bear-proof box you put all your food into, (otherwise bears will destroy your tent, or even your car, to get at any food!). On Saturday the 4 of us did a hike to Kings Creek waterfall and some lakes. The strange thing is that it was warm enough to wear shorts and T-shirts, but in some places there is thick snow on the ground! So, we had a snowball fight.

Our two tents.

Isn't the view from our camp impressive! The bigger tent is mine, which I shared with Jenny. Sudan and Tim were snuggled up in the smaller 2-man tent.

Sudan rolls a snowball.

Sudan rolls a snowball...

Isn't it strange to see people wearing so little relaxing in the snow! It really was warm... we just got cold hands.

Sudan throws his snowball.

A navy blue bird.

These birds were all over our campsite. They make loud 'skwark' noises.

This is our camp picnic table. This is were I learnt to play Poker! We played by torchlight in the evenings, with real poker chips and everything!

...Tim isn't too bothered.

Yikes! Tim, Sudan and me on a massive rock! If you could see my face you'd know I looked a bit queezy and scared stood there! (Photo by Jennifer Whatson) (I'll get a bigger copy of this soon)
