Coast around Santa Barbara - Monday 16th, Tuesday 17th & Wednesday 18th April 2007

After the Big Sur coast, we continued down the coast. We spent 1 night in San Luis Obispo, 2 nights in Santa Barbara and stopped for a few hours in Malibu. Santa Barbara is a lovely place, really relaxed and beautiful - thats why we decided to stay for 2 nights! The area around it is beautiful wine country, where the film Sideways is set.

Mum and dad on Santa Barbara's East Beach, about 5 minutes walk from our motel. Sweeeeet!

Next to the beach was this free skatepark, full of young skaters. If only we had skateparks like this in England.

The beach at Malibu had beach houses on stilts along it, with surf boards hanging underneath. The sign on this house seemed to sum up the laid back atmosphere.

Here's dad strolling along in front of the beach houses.

This palm lined Boulevard runs along the edge of the beach. This was the road we walked along to get downtown.

While in Santa Barbara, mum and I did a little trip a few miles inland to Los Padres National Forest.

Here are some people learning to parasurf on the beach at Malibu.

Here's mum in 'Bubblegum Alley' in San Luis Obispo. It's a short alley where people stick used bubblegum on the wall! It's kind of gross, but also quite cool to look at.
