Test Match Cricket

This is a new experimental service.
During Test Matches, if I am in the office and not in Hamburg (H1) or Geneva (ATLAS) then I will try to keep the latest score (or news) going mainly for people with no access to BBC radio or TV. The maximum service will be lunch/tea scores the same day and close of play score next morning. Typical service will be less than this.

If you read this page and appreciate it, please send a brief email to robin@m2.ph.man.ac.uk
If I hear nothing, then I might stop it

6th Test at The Oval starting 24th Aug
1st Innngs: Won the toss and batted

2nd innings:
1st Innings
2nd innings:

Match drawn. Due to Bank Holiday w/e and the press conference for our Science Event and having to entertain about 10 hungry members of pop group and crew, the service was restricted during this last match. England got about 450 in their first innings and W.I. repled with their highest ever score against England of some 690-8. After more than a few wobbles which demonstrated that Crawley and Gallian are not (yet) test match material, England held on and the game & series petered out into a draw with England on 230-4.

So the Windies didn't lose their second successive series and both sides thought they could have won overall. Windies thought they would have won the 2nd Lords test if they had scored more runs, a hypothesis worth taking seriously, and the Edgbaston groundsman is being offered the job of prime minister of any Caribbean island he chooses.

England now have a quiet time until they go to South Africa this winter.
